Sub-Inspector in Farrukhabad Faces Corruption Charges Over Land Dispute

A sub-inspector posted at the Mohammadabad police station in Farrukhabad district has been accused of accepting a substantial bribe to facilitate the vacation of gram sabha land. The officer allegedly took Rs 1.75 lakh, which was transferred online in multiple instalments to his son's bank account, along with an additional Rs 75,000 in cash from the gram pradhan of Nisai village.

Complaint Details and Allegations

Geeta Devi, the pradhan of Nisai village, met with ADG Alok Kumar Singh in Kanpur on Monday to submit a formal complaint. She provided screenshots as evidence, showing that Rs 1.75 lakh was transferred in 15 instalments to the account of Pankaj Chahar, who is the son of Kotwali SI Suresh Chahar. According to Devi, the sub-inspector demanded the money in exchange for getting the gram sabha land vacated, which had been encroached upon.

Devi stated that prior complaints about the encroachment were made to the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, and Circle Officer on January 12, 2025, and May 14, 2025. However, these efforts failed to resolve the issue, and the land remained occupied. She alleged that SI Suresh Chahar later took the money and, in collusion with the encroachers, managed to get the land vacated, suggesting a corrupt arrangement.
