In a fresh criminal case emerging from Chennai, the Vyasarpadi police have formally registered charges against Ajithraj, the son of a deceased history-sheeter, for his alleged involvement in the hijacking of a high-end car belonging to a real estate developer last year.
The Complaint and the Accused
The case stems from a complaint filed by Loganathan, a realtor based in Anna Nagar. According to the police, the incident occurred last year when Ajithraj, identified as the son of the late notorious criminal Nagendran, summoned Loganathan to the Vyasarpadi area. It was there that Ajithraj's associates allegedly seized the real estate developer's luxury vehicle.
On Tuesday, the MKB Nagar police acted on Loganathan's formal complaint and registered a fresh case against Ajithraj. This development adds to the existing legal troubles for the accused, who is already in custody in connection with a separate case. Authorities have also detained him under the stringent Goondas Act.
Arrests and Police Action
In connection with this new case of vehicle hijacking, the police have arrested an individual identified as Rahul from Kennedy Nagar. Following his arrest, Rahul was sent to jail. The police investigation suggests a clear link between Ajithraj and the orchestrated seizure of the car from the realtor in Kolathur.
The sequence of events highlights a continued pattern of alleged criminal activity. Ajithraj, leveraging his father's notoriety, is accused of summoning the complainant under false pretenses only to have his associates commandeer the luxury car. The prompt registration of the case based on the victim's complaint demonstrates the police's ongoing efforts to address such crimes.
Legal Repercussions and Ongoing Cases
Ajithraj's current legal situation is compounded by his existing arrest and the invocation of the Goondas Act. This preventive detention law is often used by authorities in Tamil Nadu to detain habitual offenders and is a significant escalation in the state's response to his activities.
The arrest of his associate, Rahul, indicates that the police are actively pursuing all individuals connected to this crime. The case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces with individuals connected to established criminal networks, even following the death of the primary figure. The Chennai police continue their probe to uncover further details and possibly more accomplices involved in the hijacking scheme.
