CNG Pump Employees in Nalasopara East Face Legal Action for Assault and Overcharging
The Pelhar police have taken decisive action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against six staff members of a CNG pump situated in Dhanivbaug, Nalasopara East. The charges stem from allegations of assaulting a government officer and systematically overcharging customers, highlighting a serious breach of public trust and legal compliance.

Bhagwat Sonar, a Food Supply Inspection Officer from Vasai, spearheaded the investigation after receiving numerous complaints about overcharging at the pump. On Saturday afternoon, he conducted a raid and discovered that customers were being charged an extra Rs 30 to Rs 50 per refill, blatantly disregarding fixed government rates. This malpractice not only exploits consumers but also violates regulatory standards designed to protect public interests.

According to the FIR, the situation quickly deteriorated when Sonar confronted the staff about the overcharging. The employees reportedly responded with aggression, engaging in arguments and refusing to comply with the officer's instructions. In a video recorded by Sonar during the incident, the staff can be seen adopting a hostile stance, further corroborating the allegations of misconduct.
Sonar alleged that his movement was unlawfully restricted, and he was physically assaulted during the confrontation. Adding to the severity of the incident, one staff member allegedly assisted a colleague in escaping from the scene.
