Chennai Police Crack Down on Hospital Impersonation and Theft Case

Details of the Deceptive Crime
The accused have been identified as Rajesh Prithvi, aged 35, and Aravindan, aged 30. According to police reports, the incident unfolded on June 6 when Kanchana, a 30-year-old resident of Kolathur, accompanied her mother-in-law to the hospital for a consultation with an anaesthesiologist. During this visit, one of the men approached Kanchana, introducing himself as the doctor overseeing surgery and requesting her medical documents, which she innocently provided.
The following day, on June 7, the imposter escorted Kanchana to the seventh floor of the hospital under the guise of needing to purchase medicines. He then suggested that she undergo a medical scan and instructed her to place her personal belongings, including her jewellery and phone, into a bag for safekeeping. Trusting his authority, Kanchana handed over a three-sovereign gold chain, a thaali, a 2-gram gold ring, and her mobile phone. The man departed, claiming he would secure the bag in his cabin, but he never returned, leaving Kanchana stranded and victimized.
Police Investigation and Arrest
After the theft, Kanchana promptly filed a formal complaint at the RGGGH police station, initiating an extensive investigation. Over the subsequent months, Chennai police diligently pursued leads, leveraging surveillance and investigative techniques to track down the perpetrators.
