Chandigarh Man Brutally Attacked and Robbed in Broad Daylight
In a shocking incident that has raised concerns about public safety, a man was violently attacked and robbed by four unidentified miscreants in Chandigarh's Sector 48 on Monday morning. The victim, identified as Shivam, a resident of Jagatpura village in Mohali, sustained multiple injuries from a sharp-edged weapon and was subsequently admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32) for urgent medical treatment.
Details of the Violent Assault
According to the police complaint filed by Shivam, the incident occurred around 9:00 AM on Monday when he was on his way to work. As he passed under the Jagatpura bridge, four individuals suddenly intercepted him and attempted to forcibly take his mobile phone. When Shivam resisted their demands, one of the assailants allegedly produced a knife and slashed his legs multiple times, causing severe lacerations. The attackers then snatched the mobile phone and fled the scene before anyone could intervene.
Immediate Police Response and Investigation
Following the attack, Shivam managed to alert the authorities with assistance from passers-by who witnessed the aftermath of the assault. A police team promptly arrived at the location, provided initial aid, and transported the victim to GMCH-32 for specialized medical care. Law enforcement officials have launched a comprehensive investigation into the case, examining CCTV footage from the vicinity and gathering statements from eyewitnesses to identify and apprehend the culprits.
