A devastating accident occurred in Bokaro on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy and critical injuries to his friend. The incident took place at a railway hump yard near Bokaro station, where the teenagers were allegedly attempting to shoot a reel, leading to a fatal electrocution.

Details of the Fatal Mishap

The deceased has been identified as Kaushik Sharma. According to sources, a group of seven boys had ventured into the railway yard. Santosh Kumar, the RPF post in-charge, reported that one of the boys, Abhimanyu Chatterjee, climbed onto a parked wagon to record a video or take photographs. During this attempt, he accidentally came into contact with an overhead electric line, causing severe burns.

In a tragic turn of events, Kaushik Sharma climbed onto the wagon in an effort to rescue his friend but was electrocuted in the process. The other boys immediately raised an alarm, alerting railway staff who rushed to the scene and notified RPF personnel.

The injured teenagers were swiftly transported to Bokaro General Hospital for medical treatment. Upon arrival, doctors declared Kaushik Sharma dead due to electrocution. Abhimanyu Chatterjee remains in critical condition, suffering from severe burn injuries, and is receiving intensive care.

Om Prakash Mohanty, the senior divisional security commissioner of the Adra railway division, confirmed that an inquiry has been launched to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
