Ambala STF Arrests Three Men After Seizing 2-kg IED in Barara Operation
In a significant security operation, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) arrested three individuals late on Friday evening in the Barara area of Ambala district. The arrests followed the recovery of a 2-kg improvised explosive device (IED) from their possession, highlighting ongoing vigilance against potential threats in the region.
Details of the Arrest and Operation
The operation was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs received by STF Ambala in-charge Parteek Kumar. Acting swiftly, the STF team set up surveillance and intercepted the suspects as they were traveling on a two-wheeler along the Barara–Dosarka road. During a search, authorities recovered a bag containing the IED, which was subsequently disposed of safely by the DSP STF Ambala, Aman Kumar.
The accused have been identified as Ali Akbar, a resident of Ajmer in Rajasthan; Anas, from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh; and Jangvir, a local resident of Barara in Ambala district. All three are aged between 20 and 25 years. Police confirmed that the motorcycle used in the incident belonged to Jangvir.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation
Following their arrest, the suspects were produced before the district court on Saturday, where they were granted a seven-day police remand for further investigation. Barara DSP Suresh Kumar stated that the case has been registered under relevant sections of the law at the Barara police station.
Investigators are now focusing on determining the source of the explosive device, identifying any possible handlers, and uncovering the intended target. The exact nature and composition of the IED will be ascertained through scientific examination and forensic testing, as noted by officials.
Broader Implications and Ongoing Efforts
This incident underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement agencies to combat security threats in Haryana. The STF Ambala unit has handed over the accused to the Barara police station team for further legal proceedings, ensuring a thorough investigation is conducted.
Authorities emphasize that such operations are critical in maintaining public safety and preventing potential acts of violence. The recovery of the IED serves as a reminder of the continuous efforts required to address security challenges in the region.
As the investigation progresses, police officials have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent similar incidents in the future. The case remains under active scrutiny, with updates expected as more details emerge from the ongoing probe.
