Agra HR Manager Brutally Murdered and Beheaded by Lover in Shocking Crime
In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through Agra, a 32-year-old human resources manager was brutally murdered, beheaded, and dismembered by her alleged lover before her body was stuffed into a gunny bag and dumped near a bridge over the Yamuna river. Police officials confirmed the gruesome details on Monday, revealing that the accused, identified as 30-year-old Vinay Singh, has been arrested while authorities continue efforts to recover the victim's severed head.
Discovery of the Body and Victim Identification
The police reported that the body was discovered inside a gunny bag on Jawahar Bridge in the Etmadullah police station area during the early hours of January 24. Local residents noticed the suspicious bag around 1 am and immediately alerted law enforcement authorities. Upon opening the bag, officers found the naked, headless body of a woman, prompting an intensive investigation to establish her identity.
The victim was later identified as Minky Sharma, a resident of Tedhi Bagiya in Agra. Minky worked as an HR manager with a private firm located in Sanjay Place, where the accused was employed as a computer operator. Police investigations revealed that the two had been in a relationship for over two years, but the situation turned violent when Vinay allegedly grew suspicious after learning that Minky had been in contact with another man for approximately six months.
Relationship Dispute Turns Deadly
According to police statements, frequent arguments between the couple eventually culminated in the brutal murder. Minky had left her home around 2 pm on January 23, informing her family that she was heading to the office. When she failed to return by evening and her phone remained switched off, concerned family members initiated a search and subsequently approached the Trans Yamuna police station to file a missing person complaint.
Dharmendra Kumar, the Station House Officer at Trans Yamuna police station, provided details about the family's efforts to locate Minky before the grim discovery was made. The investigation took a significant turn when Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Sayed Ali Abbas constituted five specialized police teams to crack the case.
Investigation and Arrest
Police investigations uncovered crucial evidence through CCTV footage that showed a man dragging a gunny bag out of an office building and later riding a scooter toward Jawahar Bridge. Based on the missing person complaint and additional footage from Maruti Plaza, authorities identified the suspect as Vinay Singh. Further CCTV cameras installed on MG Road and the highway captured the accused riding the victim's scooter, providing substantial evidence for his involvement.
During interrogation, Vinay confessed to the horrific crime, revealing that he had called Minky to their office on January 23. Following a heated argument, he attacked her repeatedly with a knife, inflicting a fatal blow to her neck. The accused then proceeded to dismember the body, pack it in a plastic bag, and seal it with parcel tape. He kept the severed head in a separate backpack, according to police statements.
Attempted Disposal and Evidence Recovery
The accused told investigators that he transported the body on Minky's scooter to Jawahar Bridge with the intention of dumping it into the Yamuna river. However, when he failed to lift the heavy bag and noticed passersby in the vicinity, he abandoned it near the bridge and fled the scene. Vinay later disposed of the severed head, the victim's clothes, mobile phone, and bag near a drain, leaving the scooter at a secluded location.
Police have registered a First Information Report at the Trans Yamuna police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destroying evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Authorities have successfully recovered the scooter, the knife used in the crime, and the victim's clothes as crucial evidence in the case.
Police Statement and Judicial Process
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sayed Ali Abbas provided additional context, stating, "We found that a young man named Vinay Singh, who had been working with Minky Sharma for the past two years, had a dispute with her. He wanted to marry her, but she refused. On detailed interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The knife, scooter and clothes have been recovered, and the family has identified the body. Vinay Singh is being sent to judicial custody and the strictest action will be taken."
