In a swift action, the Jaipur police on Sunday arrested three individuals accused of assaulting two young men and stealing their gold chains during a New Year's Eve celebration at a hotel in the city's Gurjar Ki Thadi area.
How the New Year's Eve Celebration Turned Violent
The incident unfolded on the night of December 31 at Hotel My-Stay. According to Shyam Nagar SHO Dalbeer Singh Faujdar, the victims had checked into the hotel specifically to ring in the New Year. The complainant, Tushar Pidel (23) from Nagaur district, stated he had come to Jaipur with his younger brother, Divyash Chaudhary, and a 16-year-old minor relative.
After booking rooms, the trio went up to the hotel's rooftop where a birthday party was already in progress. The police complaint alleges that a group of men, seemingly intoxicated, began to verbally abuse and physically assault them without any provocation. In the ensuing scuffle, the assailants allegedly snatched the gold chains worn by Divyash and the minor before fleeing the scene.
Swift Police Action Based on CCTV Footage
The victims subsequently approached the authorities, leading to the registration of a case at the Shyam Nagar police station on Friday. A special police team was immediately formed to investigate the gold chain snatching.
Officials revealed that meticulous examination of CCTV footage from the hotel premises and the surrounding areas proved crucial. This digital evidence led to the quick identification of the suspects. Within just a few hours of the incident being reported, police managed to track down and arrest all three accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vikas Mal (27) from Alwar, Kaluram (28) from Dausa, and Sundar Singh (30) from Karauli.
Recovery and Further Investigation Underway
Police confirmed that efforts to recover the stolen gold chains are currently in progress. Furthermore, investigators are delving deeper to ascertain whether the arrested trio has been involved in similar criminal activities in the past. The prompt resolution of this case highlights the effectiveness of surveillance technology in modern policing.
