Varanasi Municipal Corporation Intensifies Preparations for Mahashivratri Pilgrimage
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation has launched a comprehensive initiative to enhance the pilgrimage experience for devotees ahead of Mahashivratri in Kashi. Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal has issued strict directives to officials, focusing on critical infrastructure improvements along the sacred Panchkoshi route.
Infrastructure and Cleanliness Drive
Commissioner Nagpal personally inspected key locations, including the Kandeshwar Mahadev temple and Pancho Pandav area, to assess road conditions, cleanliness standards, and lighting arrangements. He emphasized the urgent need to repair potholes on the Panchkoshi route to ensure a smooth and safe journey for pilgrims. "No compromise on devotee convenience," Nagpal stated, urging officials to complete all work promptly before the festival.
Sanitation and Water Facilities
To address hygiene concerns, Nagpal has ordered the installation of mobile toilets and the provision of pure drinking water along the Panchkoshi route. He specifically directed officials to repair and reopen a non-functional toilet near the Shri Rangeshwar Nath temple prior to Mahashivratri. Additionally, measures are being taken to prevent sewerage or water leakage issues on the Shivpur Pancho Pandav route and within Dharamshala premises.
Lighting and Safety Measures
Faulty street lights on the pilgrimage route are currently being fixed to ensure adequate nighttime illumination, enhancing safety for devotees. This effort is part of a broader strategy to create a comfortable and secure environment during the festival. The Municipal Corporation's proactive approach aims to facilitate a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for all pilgrims visiting Varanasi for Mahashivratri.
