In a significant move aimed at transforming public service delivery, the District Administration of Shahdara has officially launched a new initiative called the DM SETU – Service Enhancement & Transformation Unit. Announced this week, this landmark project is designed to create a structured, district-level mechanism to strengthen citizen facilitation, boost efficiency, and enhance overall public welfare.
A Platform for Integrated Governance
The launch event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including MLA Rohtash Nagar, Jitender Mahajan, who is also the DDC Chairperson for District Shahdara; MLA Ghonda, Ajay Mahawar, DDC Chairperson for District North East and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in the Delhi Legislative Assembly; Shailendra Singh Parihar, IAS, the District Magistrate of Shahdara; Rajiv Ranjan, ADM Shahdara; along with all SDMs and officers of the district.
DM SETU represents a major leap in good governance, aiming to serve as a cohesive and integrated platform. Its core objective is to streamline a wide array of essential public services under one roof. The initiative carries a broad mandate that spans several critical areas of public life.
Key Focus Areas of the Initiative
The unit will focus on multiple fronts to ensure holistic development. Its responsibilities include implementing public health interventions, strengthening food safety compliance measures, and supporting educational upliftment programs. Furthermore, it will advance welfare schemes targeted at senior citizens, women, and children.
A pivotal component of DM SETU is its commitment to enabling strong entrepreneurship support for both the formal and informal sectors. By building a robust single-window facilitation system for citizens and micro-enterprises, the administration aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, improve inter-departmental coordination, and promote ease of living and ease of doing business across Shahdara.
Vision and Collaborative Approach
Highlighting the transformative vision behind DM SETU, District Magistrate Shailendra Singh Parihar, IAS, stated that the unit is more than an administrative body; it is a commitment to the vision of a ‘Viksit District, Viksit Delhi, and Viksit Bharat @ 2047’. He emphasized that by establishing this single-window platform and leveraging data-driven monitoring, the administration aims to drastically improve its responsiveness and efficiency, ensuring prompt and effective support for every citizen and business.
Echoing the collaborative spirit, Jitender Mahajan and Ajay Mahawar noted that DM SETU embodies the principle of inclusive growth. They highlighted that the initiative strategically prioritizes the welfare of vulnerable sections of society while simultaneously fostering a pro-business environment. This dual focus is intended to pave the way for the holistic development of District Shahdara and contribute to progress across Delhi.
The initiative also seeks to modernize district governance by fostering innovation and collaborating with reputed educational and technical institutions. It plans to leverage tools like data analytics, extensive field outreach, and targeted public-awareness campaigns to strengthen public health and food safety systems on the ground.
Ultimately, DM SETU is tasked with ensuring the seamless implementation of all Government of NCT of Delhi and Government of India programmes at the grassroots level, acting as a catalyst for effective and transparent administration.
