Haryana Chief Minister Emphasizes Commitment to Public Welfare and Development
During the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reiterated the state government's dedication to fulfilling promises made to the people, aligning policies with the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries as a key reflection of the Centre's commitment to good governance and public welfare.
Substantial Financial Transfers to Beneficiaries
The CM informed the House about significant financial disbursements made recently. On March 3, the state government released Rs 68 crore to 602 gaushalas across Haryana. Subsequently, on March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day, Rs 1,357 crore was transferred to approximately 35 lakh women beneficiaries covered under various welfare schemes. Additionally, on Monday, the government released Rs 1,884 crore under multiple social security and welfare schemes, including the Old Age Pension Scheme, DAYALU Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Saini emphasized that within a short timeframe, a total of Rs 3,309 crore has been directly transferred into the accounts of beneficiaries across Haryana, showcasing the government's unwavering commitment to public welfare under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Response to Safidon Accident and Relief Measures
Addressing a recent accident in Safidon city of Jind district, the CM announced that directions have been issued to conduct an inquiry into the incident. He assured that the families of the deceased will receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each, while the injured will be provided Rs 2 lakh each as relief.
Infrastructure Development to Decongest Panipat Roads
Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister Ranbir Gangwa detailed efforts to alleviate traffic congestion in Panipat city. He noted that the existing elevated highway on NH-44 facilitates smooth movement for main highway traffic, while the Panipat–Rohtak section of NH-709 and the Panipat–Shamli section of NH-709AD serve as a western bypass.
To further improve connectivity, an 11.20-km-long, 10-metre-wide road has been constructed along Drain No. 2 from Barsat Road to Sanauli Road. A proposed 2.90-km stretch on the same bank will connect NH-44 with NH-709AD, forming an eastern bypass for Panipat city. The government has granted administrative approval of Rs 3,207.05 lakh for this project.
Additionally, a railway underpass has been proposed in the market area of Kosli Railway Station, with administrative approval of Rs 520.15 lakh. Gangwa also mentioned that a proposal is under consideration to convert the existing tubewell system into a canal water-based water supply system in Murthal village and nearby areas, with a detailed project report being prepared.
Desilting Initiatives for Water Bodies
Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry announced that proposals for desilting Chautang Nallah, Somb river, and Nakti river in the Sadhaura assembly constituency are under government consideration. An estimate is being prepared to desilt Chautang Nallah from Burji No. 3,000 to 48,000 by June 30.
Regarding the Somb river, tenders were issued for desilting, but the National Green Tribunal (NGT) stayed the work on February 11. With the next hearing scheduled for May 15, the tenders have been cancelled for now.
Healthcare and Sanitation Enhancements
Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao informed the House that the state government will soon implement biometric or geofencing systems to mark the attendance of doctors in government hospitals. Currently, due to poor conditions at the doctors' hostel at Al-Afia General Hospital in Mandi Khera village, doctors are permitted to reside in Gurugram and Faridabad.
Rao also announced that a day-care cancer centre will soon be established in the newly created district of Hansi, following similar centres already started in 22 districts.
On the sanitation front, Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar stated that safai karamcharis in rural areas are appointed based on village population as per the 2011 Census. With the 2021 Census process underway, their numbers will be increased in accordance with updated population figures once the new census report is available.
