A crucial review meeting for the pioneering Land Stack project was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Chandigarh's Sector 17 on Thursday. The session focused on evaluating the substantial advancements made in this significant digital governance initiative.
High-Level Review and Presentation of Progress
The meeting was presided over by S Chockalingam, the Principal Secretary and CEO of the Government of Maharashtra. Leading the presentation from Chandigarh's side was Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav. He delivered a comprehensive update on the project's core components, detailing the work accomplished to date.
Yadav's presentation covered multiple critical areas of the Land Stack project's implementation. Key highlights included the ongoing process of data digitisation and the complex task of integrating various land records into a unified system. He also elaborated on the modernisation of mutation workflows, the precise mapping of land parcels, and the suite of proposed citizen-facing services planned for the portal.
Focus on Accuracy and User-Friendly Design
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the technical and administrative steps undertaken to guarantee the platform's success. A core focus has been placed on ensuring data accuracy, system interoperability, and the development of user-friendly features for the upcoming public portal. These measures are fundamental to achieving the project's goal of enhancing transparency and simplifying access for both citizens and government departments.
Pilot Project Status and Future Roadmap
It is important to note that Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu were selected by the Central Government in July as the two regions for implementing the Land Stack project on a pilot basis. The first official meeting of the implementation committee was subsequently held in August, making this review a follow-up to assess the momentum gained.
The Land Stack project is envisioned as a major digital transformation effort. Its primary objective is to consolidate all land-related data onto a single, secure digital platform. This integration is expected to drastically improve efficiency, reduce bureaucratic delays, and provide unparalleled ease of access to land records for stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Union Territory administration along with representatives directly involved in the project's execution. After thoroughly reviewing the detailed presentation, Principal Secretary S Chockalingam expressed satisfaction with the substantial progress achieved by the Chandigarh team in a relatively short timeframe.
