Agastya Nanda on KBC: Big B Serious at Home, Jaya Strict

The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 offered a rare and intimate glimpse into the Bachchan family dynamics, courtesy of grandson Agastya Nanda. The young actor, who appeared on the show with the cast of his debut film Ikkis, found himself playfully grilled by his legendary grandfather, host Amitabh Bachchan, and the audience, leading to some candid revelations about life at home.

Agastya Nanda's Candid Confession About His Grandparents

During the fun-filled episode that aired recently, Agastya Nanda was put on the spot by a fan's question about how Amitabh Bachchan differs in front of the camera versus at home. Without hesitation, Agastya shared an insight that surprised many. He stated that at home, his 'Nanu' is "very serious" and that he was witnessing Amitabh's excited and fun side on the KBC set for the very first time.

The revelations deepened when another audience member posed a tricky question, asking Agastya to choose his favourite between grandmother Jaya Bachchan and grandfather Amitabh. A visibly flustered Agastya even asked if he could use a lifeline, prompting Big B to laugh and remark, "Phas gaye bhaisaab (you are in a mess)." The megastar insisted on hearing the answer.

Agastya's co-star from Ikkis, Jaideep Ahlawat, jumped in with a humorous take, suggesting that taking Jaya Bachchan's name might get you beaten in the vanity van, but taking Big B's name would have consequences at home. Ultimately, Agastya declared that his nani Jaya Bachchan is the stricter one. To this, a chuckling Amitabh Bachchan gave his approval, saying, "Continue, bilkul sahi hai yeh (Continue, this is absolutely right)."

An Emotional Tribute to a Legend: Remembering Dharmendra

The episode, which also served as a promotional platform for the film Ikkis, took a poignant turn as Amitabh Bachchan paid a heartfelt tribute to his late Sholay co-star and close friend, Dharmendra. The veteran actor passed away in November last year, and Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and released on 1st January 2026, stands as his final theatrical film.

Big B remembered Dharmendra with deep emotion, calling him a precious memory left for crores of fans. "An artist wants to worship his craft till his last breath, and that's what my friend, my family member, my ideal – Dharmendra Deolji did. He was not just a person; he was an emotion," Bachchan said. He also recalled a memorable incident from the shooting of Sholay's climax in Bangalore, revealing that Dharmendra's immense physical strength led to some very natural acting. "In one of Sholay's scenes where I am supposed to die, I am seen struggling, and that was because he was holding me so tight," he shared.

Director Sriram Raghavan expressed feeling blessed that Dharmendra's last film was his, while Jaideep Ahlawat felt lucky to have shared most of his scenes in the film with the legend, noting his down-to-earth nature on set.

About the Film 'Ikkis' and Its Significance

The episode highlighted the much-anticipated film Ikkis, which marks the big-screen debut for both Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia (Akshay Kumar's niece). Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film is a biographical war drama based on the life of 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honour.

Originally scheduled for a 25th December release, the film's launch was postponed by a week, reportedly due to the competitive box office environment dubbed the 'Dhurandhar wave'. The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat in a pivotal role and now holds a special place as the final cinematic chapter of the beloved actor Dharmendra.

The KBC 17 episode successfully blended light-hearted family banter with touching nostalgia, giving audiences a unique look at the Bachchans off-screen and a solemn remembrance of a Bollywood icon.
