Rajasthan Education Department Elevates 639 PM SHRI Schools to Centres of Excellence
In a significant educational reform initiative, the Rajasthan education department announced on Thursday that 639 PM SHRI schools across the state are undergoing a comprehensive transformation into Centres of Excellence. This ambitious project aims to revolutionize the learning environment and academic standards in these institutions, setting a new benchmark for quality education in the state.
State-Level Rankings and Top Performing Schools
The department has issued state-level rankings for all 639 PM SHRI schools, which were thoroughly reviewed by Chief Secretary V Srinivas. This ranking system provides a transparent assessment of school performance and encourages healthy competition among educational institutions.
The top five ranked schools include:
- PM SHRI Dhawa in Jodhpur district
- PM SHRI Savar in Ajmer
- PM SHRI Manpura Machedi in Jaipur
- PM SHRI Jodhakiya in Hanumangarh
- PM SHRI Ringas in Sikar district
These leading institutions will serve as models for implementing 'excellent management' principles, ensuring students have access to practical learning environments and modern educational resources that prepare them for future challenges.
Comprehensive Infrastructure and Resource Enhancement
The transformation initiative includes substantial infrastructure improvements across all designated schools. As part of the renovation process, children's gardens have been developed to create engaging outdoor learning spaces. Schools have been equipped with specialized educational materials including Ansh, Anmol, and Alok workbooks for primary class students, along with child-friendly furniture in all 639 institutions.
"Digital libraries were established in 500 PM SHRI schools across the state, and O-Labs in 142 schools," revealed a senior education official. "In the 2024-25 academic session, 2,492 science and mathematics kits were provided to 623 schools. The primary objective is to develop practical knowledge and employment-oriented understanding among students through educational and industrial exposure visits."
Teacher Training and Specialized Programs
To ensure sustainable excellence, the initiative includes comprehensive professional development for educators. Teachers in PM SHRI schools are receiving residential training, activity-based learning kits, and innovation-based leadership training provided by the prestigious IIM Udaipur. This investment in teacher capacity building is expected to significantly enhance classroom instruction quality.
The official further elaborated on additional specialized programs: "Constitution Rooms are also being established in all PM SHRI schools across the state to inculcate awareness of democratic values and civic responsibilities among students. Additionally, self-defence training and martial arts training are being provided to girls, and sanitary pad incinerator machines are being installed in 144 schools to promote hygiene and safety."

All designated schools will now operate pre-primary classes, ensuring a strong foundation for early childhood education.
