US Shoots Down Iranian Drones Over Strait of Hormuz

In a fresh escalation, Iranian forces launched a new strike on the Strait of Hormuz as explosions rocked at least two areas of the war-torn country despite ongoing optimism about a deal between Tehran and Washington D.C. According to Reuters, U.S. forces shot down multiple Iranian one-way attack drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. The news agency cited a source familiar with the matter on Friday.

This is the latest military flare-up in Hormuz even as Washington and Tehran cite progress in peace talks. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the drones had posed a threat to commercial traffic. President Donald Trump had warned Iran earlier on Friday against firing more drones at ships attempting to transit the Strait, saying Tehran "better get their act together, and FAST!"
