Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm reception accorded to him at Abu Dhabi airport. In a series of social media posts, PM Modi highlighted the significance of the gesture and his anticipation for discussions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
Warm Welcome and Personal Meeting
In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "The way your air force escorted me today is an honour for the people of India. For quite some time, we had been speaking over the phone, but I was eager to meet you personally. I am very happy to meet you today." The Indian leader also shared a video of his arrival, showing the UAE Air Force's flypast as a mark of respect.
Strengthening India-UAE Partnership
PM Modi further tweeted in Arabic, thanking Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his generous gesture. He said, "I look forward to our discussions aimed at strengthening the bonds between India and the UAE across important sectors such as energy, investment, supply chains, and more." The visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.
The UAE is a key partner for India in the Gulf region, with robust trade and investment ties. The two countries have been collaborating in areas including renewable energy, technology, and defense. PM Modi's visit is expected to give further impetus to these relations, with several agreements likely to be signed.
The warm reception at Abu Dhabi airport reflects the close personal rapport between the two leaders, which has been a driving force behind the deepening of bilateral ties. The Indian community in the UAE, one of the largest overseas Indian populations, also plays a vital role in fostering people-to-people connections.
