The Rayagada district administration on Sunday initiated a special outreach program in the remote Niyamgiri hills to ensure the inclusion of the Dongria Kondh community, classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Enumeration forms were distributed among eligible voters within the Dongria Kondh community on the same day.
Details of the Outreach Drive
Acting on the directives of Rayagada district collector Ashutosh Kulkarni and under the supervision of the electoral registration officer (ERO) for the 139-Bissam Cuttack (ST) Assembly constituency, additional district magistrate (general) Naveen Chandra Nayak, along with other officials, undertook a special drive. The team visited inaccessible tribal settlements in the Niyamgiri hills to distribute enumeration forms to eligible voters.
Awareness and Interaction
Officials reported that during the visit, forms were handed out to eligible voters, and awareness campaigns were conducted regarding the ongoing voter list revision exercise. The officials also engaged with villagers, explaining the significance of participating in the electoral process and ensuring their voices are heard in the democratic system.
This initiative underscores the district administration's commitment to reaching every eligible voter, even in the most remote and challenging terrains, to uphold the principles of inclusive democracy.
