Kanpur: Rishabh Nishad emerged victorious in the first classical chess championship held at Govind Nagar on Sunday. He secured the top spot with 4.5 points from five rounds. Vikas Nishad and Shrestha Yadav each earned 4 points, but Vikas claimed second place while Shreshtha finished third.
Surendra Kumar Mishra was recognized as the senior most player of the event, receiving a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1,000. Bhakti Tekwani was adjudged the best women player, and Vivak Srivastava was declared the best junior player.

In the third Deeba Naseem U-14 cricket tournament at Kanpur South B ground, Vishesh Agnihotri's fine century (124 runs) helped Aditya Kitchen Gallery XI defeat Rachit Financial by 105 runs. Batting first, Aditya Kitchen XI posted a total of 197 runs.
