PM Modi Holds Bilateral Meeting with UAE President at G7 Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. The two leaders discussed enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE.
Strengthening Ties
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the UAE government for its care and concern for the Indian community living there. He stated, "Had a very good meeting with my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We discussed India-UAE ties across sectors and ways to further energise our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."
West Asia Stability
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the leaders also exchanged views on peace, security, and stability in the West Asia region. The MEA statement noted that they reviewed measures to deepen the bilateral partnership.
Other Bilateral Meetings
PM Modi also held separate bilateral meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. With Carney, Modi reviewed progress in trade, energy, innovation, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
G7 Outreach Session: Forging New Partnerships
Earlier in the day, PM Modi participated in the G7 Outreach Session on "Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity." He emphasized the importance of trust in building international partnerships in an interconnected world.
Humanity First Approach
The Prime Minister highlighted India's "humanity first" approach, citing initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission LiFe, and the 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign. He called for moving from a donor-recipient model to partnerships based on solidarity and equality.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
PM Modi reiterated India's commitment to sustainable and inclusive global development, rooted in the philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family).
Upcoming US Bilateral Meeting
A bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump is scheduled for June 17, focusing on advancing the proposed India-US trade agreement, as confirmed by the White House.
