Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday launched the first phase of Census 2027 in the state with self-enumeration. Ranchi MP and Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth also completed self-enumeration on Saturday.
The first phase of Census 2027 is underway in the country from April 1 to September 30, 2026. For the first time, the entire process is being done digitally.
Both Gangwar and Soren filled in their respective digital details in the presence of census directorate officials at their residences. “This is not merely an exercise in collecting data, but the foundation to steer the future of Jharkhand and the entire country in the right direction. I appeal to each one residing in the state to actively participate in this campaign,” Hemant said in a statement.
Around 78,000 personnel are engaged for the first phase of Census in Jharkhand. Earlier, director of Jharkhand’s Directorate of Census Operations, Prabhat Kumar, said, “One has to visit https://se.census.gov.in and fill in a set of 33 questions for the self-enumeration. Even if one fails to do self-enumeration, he/she must not worry as the enumerators during the door-to-door survey process will do the needful.”
“The entire process was smooth as the questions had multiple options and one had to click the option as per their right choice. Also, the self-enumeration interface was self-explanatory and there are multi language options too,” said Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Chiroundi.
The self-enumeration process in Jharkhand will continue till May 15. Thereafter, house-listing process will take place from May 16 till June 14 during which assigned enumerators will visit door to door to vet the self-enumerated data and undertake a few more questions.
