Vungzagin Valte, a respected Zomi community leader and BJP MLA from Thanlon, succumbed to his injuries at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on February 21, 2026. His death came after nearly three years of medical struggle following a violent mob attack in Imphal on May 4, 2023. The ZCC, originally formed as a Joint Action Committee demanding justice for Valte, has taken a firm stance in commemorating his legacy and public service.
