Yogi Adityanath Takes Veiled Dig at SP's 'Babua' During Scholarship Distribution Event
In a pointed critique aimed at Samajwadi Party leaders on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked that everyone was well aware of how seriously "babua" used to take the education of underprivileged children during his tenure. The comments were made during a significant scholarship distribution ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.
CM Highlights Past Failures and Present Transparency
Adityanath elaborated, "Babua used to wake up at 12 noon. Due to rampant nepotism and corruption, the benefits of government schemes failed to reach those in genuine need in the past." He contrasted this with the current administration's efforts, emphasizing a shift towards greater accountability and efficiency.
In a major financial move, the Chief Minister transferred nearly Rs 945 crore through scholarships and fee reimbursements directly into the accounts of 18.79 lakh students. Utilizing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) process, the government ensured that this assistance was disbursed ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, marking a timely support mechanism for beneficiaries.
Transforming Education and Social Welfare
"Earlier, scholarship schemes and the fee reimbursement process were entangled in corruption and controversies," Adityanath stated. "Now, through transparent DBT, funds are reaching beneficiaries without any unnecessary delays or discrimination." He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, noting that the state government's objective is to extend support to backward and deprived social groups, ensuring no vulnerable student is excluded.
Highlighting a success story, the CM shared, "A student who recently availed a scholarship has now become a computer assistant at UPRVUNL (UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited), inspiring numerous other women to pursue careers in government services." This anecdote underscored the tangible impact of the scholarship initiatives.
Broader Initiatives and Future Goals
Adityanath also discussed the achievements of Operation Kayakalp, a program that has significantly improved the condition of schools and educational institutions across Uttar Pradesh. He added that social security schemes are being consistently provided to lakhs of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals on a monthly basis, reinforcing the government's commitment to inclusive development.
The event not only served as a platform for financial aid distribution but also as a statement on the administration's dedication to eradicating past inefficiencies and fostering a more equitable educational landscape in the state.
