Udhayanidhi Stalin Unveils Karunanidhi Statue in Thanjavur, Lauds Women-Centric Governance
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin unveiled a statue of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at Chengipatti in Thanjavur district on Thursday. The event served as a platform to honor Karunanidhi's legacy while emphasizing the current government's commitment to women's welfare.
Spreading Karunanidhi's Ideology Through Statues
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Udhayanidhi Stalin stated that installing Karunanidhi statues across Tamil Nadu is a strategic initiative to disseminate his ideology and accomplishments throughout the state. He described Karunanidhi as a historical figure who revolutionized women's rights in Tamil Nadu.
"Karunanidhi pioneered women-centric initiatives by granting equal property rights to women and recruiting them into police service," Udhayanidhi remarked. "His vision laid the foundation for gender equality in the state."
Current Government's Women-Focused Schemes
Udhayanidhi highlighted that Chief Minister M K Stalin is continuing this legacy by thoughtfully implementing schemes for women. He noted that several other states have been praising the Tamil Nadu government as a genuine 'government for women.'
The Deputy CM detailed key programmes rolled out by the DMK government, including:
- Magalir Vidiyal Payanam: A scheme focused on women's empowerment and mobility.
- Pudhumai Penn: Initiatives aimed at promoting education and opportunities for young women.
- Magalir Urimai Thogai: A financial assistance programme designed to support women's economic independence.
Election Call to Action for Party Workers
With only two months remaining until the assembly election, Udhayanidhi urged DMK party workers to intensify their efforts to ensure the party remains in power. He specifically called on women party cadres to campaign energetically over the next two months.
"Women must interact with the public and explain the government's welfare schemes for women," he emphasized. "They should ensure that every vote goes to DMK."
This rallying cry underscores the party's strategy to leverage its women-centric achievements as a key electoral platform, connecting Karunanidhi's historical contributions with the current administration's policies to build a cohesive narrative for the upcoming polls.
