Trichy MP Pushes SAIL for Steel Report to Speed Up Maris RoB Reconstruction
Trichy MP Seeks SAIL Status Report on Delayed Maris RoB Steel

Trichy Member of Parliament Durai Vaiko has taken a firm stance to expedite the long-delayed reconstruction of the crucial Maris Road Overbridge (RoB). He has formally requested an immediate status report from the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) concerning the procurement and supply of steel for this vital infrastructure project.

Urgent Call to SAIL to Prevent Further Delays

In a direct communication to the branch manager of SAIL in Trichy, the MP emphasized the critical nature of timely steel delivery. Durai Vaiko explicitly stated that any holdup in the supply chain would directly result in further prolonging the reconstruction work of the Maris RoB. This bridge is a key arterial link, interconnecting at least four major commercial streets in the Thillai Nagar and Sastri Road areas with the core city hubs of Main Guard Gate and Rockfort.

Strategic Importance of the Maris Road Overbridge

The incomplete reconstruction of the overbridge has been causing significant traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents and businesses. The MP underscored that the timely commissioning of the RoB is essential for seamless urban mobility and economic activity in Trichy's central region. The project's progress is now closely tied to SAIL's ability to fulfill its steel supply commitments without additional delays.

Parallel Push for a BIS Office in Trichy

Alongside the infrastructure push, MP Durai Vaiko is also championing the establishment of institutional support for the region's industrial growth. On Monday, he met with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, in New Delhi. During this meeting, he urged the ministry to sanction a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) office in Trichy.

This request is strategically made in light of upcoming regulatory requirements and the growing industrial needs of the central Tamil Nadu region. Prior to this, the MP had also sought support from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to approve the proposal for the new BIS office, highlighting a consistent effort to bring crucial central government institutions to the city.

The twin initiatives by the MP reflect a focused approach to addressing both immediate infrastructure bottlenecks and long-term quality assurance frameworks necessary for Trichy's development.
