Suspended TMC Leader Praises Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari for Peace

Suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Riju Dutta has praised West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for his role in preventing large-scale post-poll violence following the murder of his close aide, Chandranath Rath. Dutta stated that if Adhikari had called for revenge, thousands of TMC workers could have been attacked. Instead, the Chief Minister appealed for peace and restraint, which helped maintain calm in the region.

Dutta described Adhikari as one of India's most accomplished politicians and expressed that he deserved to become Bengal's Chief Minister. He also apologised for any past personal attacks made against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the state after the murder of Rath, a close aide of the Chief Minister.

The incident had raised fears of widespread violence, but Adhikari's appeal for peace prevented any major escalation. Dutta's statement is seen as a significant shift in the political narrative, as he was previously known for his sharp criticism of the BJP and its leaders.
