Suspected Beef Discovery in Bihar School Triggers Widespread Tension and Administrative Action

Tension gripped parts of Rohtas district in Bihar on Wednesday following a disturbing discovery at Urdu Upgraded Middle School in Ramudih village under Rajpur block. Authorities found suspected beef, allegedly packed in polythene bags, hidden inside a cupboard on the school premises, sparking immediate concern and swift administrative response.

Immediate Suspension of Five Teachers and Forensic Investigation

Acting with urgency, the district administration detained five teachers from the school for thorough questioning and placed them under suspension pending further investigation. The seized material was promptly dispatched to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for comprehensive testing to determine its exact nature and composition.

Sub-divisional magistrate Prabhat Kumar from Bikramganj confirmed these decisive actions, emphasizing that the measures were implemented to ensure a fair and transparent inquiry into the highly sensitive incident. The situation escalated when local residents raised allegations that the suspected beef was intended to be served to children as part of the mid-day meal scheme, potentially influencing their religious beliefs.

High-Level Official Response and Recovery of Evidence

Upon receiving critical information about the incident, district magistrate Udita Singh and superintendent of police Roshan Kumar rushed to the school accompanied by senior officials and police personnel. After conducting a detailed inspection of the premises, they ordered the immediate suspension of five teachers.

The suspended staff members include in-charge headmaster Akhtar Ali, teachers Md Imran and Anwar Khan, along with female teachers Sufiya Khatoon and Hina Kausar. During their thorough examination, officials recovered three black polythene bags containing the suspected beef from inside the school, further intensifying the situation.

Heightened Security Measures and Legal Proceedings

The recovery of the material significantly escalated tensions in the area, prompting the administration to deploy additional magistrates and police forces to maintain law and order while preventing any potential untoward incidents. Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar confirmed that the seized items had been sent for FSL testing to establish their precise nature.

Meanwhile, the block education officer has submitted a formal application seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant legal provisions. Preliminary allegations suggest that some staff members may have brought and stored the suspected beef on school premises, though officials stress that exact facts and responsibility will only be established after completing the investigation.

Administrative Caution and Public Appeals

The SDM, who visited the school to pacify agitated protesters gathered on the premises, stated that considering the sensitivity of the issue, the administration is proceeding with extreme caution. Continuous monitoring is being conducted throughout the area, with residents being urged to refrain from spreading rumors or circulating objectionable content on social media platforms.

The official issued a stern warning that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty of wrongdoing in connection with the incident. The administration remains vigilant as it navigates this delicate situation while awaiting forensic results that will provide crucial clarity about the recovered material.
