Surat is set to host the state-level celebration of Gujarat Foundation Day, also known as Gujarat Gaurav Diwas, on Friday. The event will feature a grand line-up including a police parade, cultural performances, and the felicitation of distinguished individuals.
Event Schedule and Dignitaries
The celebrations will commence at 5 pm with a police parade from Y Junction near VR Mall to Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. Among the dignitaries expected to attend are Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and other prominent figures. The event will begin with a ceremonial reception, followed by the national anthem and parade proceedings.
Parade Highlights
The parade will include a march past, ceremonial salutes, a cultural presentation by women participants, and a motorcycle stunt show. Arrangements have been made for the public to witness the event from designated areas.
Cultural Program at Dumas Sea Face
A grand cultural programme, themed "Glorious Gujarat: From Heritage to Development," is scheduled for 8 pm at Dumas Sea Face. The 50-minute showcase will feature over 250 artists presenting the state's cultural richness and Surat's transformation through music, dance, and dramatic storytelling, supported by light and sound effects.
Awards and Book Releases
During the ceremony, winners of the Gujarat Garima Award and other prominent personalities from the district will be honored. Additionally, two books on Surat's development journey — Vikas Vatika and a coffee-table book — will be released.

Government and heritage buildings across the city have been illuminated, creating a festive atmosphere ahead of the celebrations. The event aims to showcase Gujarat's heritage and developmental achievements.
