Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin Intensifies Criticism of Central Government Over Delimitation
In a fiery escalation of political tensions, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has launched a fresh and vehement attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of deliberately painting Tamil Nadu in a negative light. This comes just hours after Stalin issued a stern warning to the Union government regarding the ongoing delimitation exercise, which he views as a direct threat to the state's interests.
Stalin Challenges PM Modi's Use of 'Unverified Data'
Addressing a charged election rally in Tirupattur, Stalin did not mince words as he criticized the Prime Minister for what he termed as baseless allegations against Tamil Nadu's achievements. "Should a person holding the high office of Prime Minister speak against a state without thoroughly reading and verifying the data? Is this behavior befitting of the prestigious post he occupies?" Stalin questioned the crowd, highlighting his deep dissatisfaction with Modi's approach.
Stalin went on to challenge the Prime Minister directly, urging him to consult the Union government's own economic survey and consider observations from respected international bodies such as the United Nations before making any further allegations. "We would not pay much heed if an ordinary BJP member spoke in such a manner. However, the Prime Minister belongs to all states equally. Do not attempt to weigh Tamil Nadu down based on the opinions of a few 'slaves' who bow before you in Delhi," he added, using strong language to emphasize his point.
Sharp Rebuke for Union Minister Piyush Goyal
The Chief Minister also turned his ire towards Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who had previously remarked that those objecting to the delimitation exercise were 'uneducated'. Stalin demanded that Goyal cease speaking with what he described as unwarranted arrogance. "Mr. Piyush Goyal, I advise you to hold your tongue. You are merely the BJP's in-charge for Tamil Nadu. Do not speak with such condescension and arrogance. The people of Tamil Nadu are self-respecting and highly knowledgeable. If you continue to insult our dignity, the retaliation from Tamil Nadu against your arrogance displayed in Delhi will be severe and unmistakable," Stalin warned, underscoring the state's pride and readiness to defend its honor.
Delimitation Exercise Labeled a 'Fascist Conspiracy'
Speaking earlier in Vellore, Stalin had already set a confrontational tone by terming Parliament's special session on constituency delimitation a "fascist conspiracy." He argued that this move is designed to punish states like Tamil Nadu that have successfully implemented population control measures, thereby reducing their political representation unfairly. "I have directed all our Members of Parliament to proceed to Delhi immediately to fight this unjust proposal. If you attempt to pass this against our will, you will witness a completely different and determined face of the DMK," Stalin declared, signaling his party's readiness for a protracted political battle.
Warning Against AIADMK and BJP Alliance
In his rally, Stalin also targeted AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, whom he labeled a "political chameleon" for allegedly acting as a mask to facilitate the BJP's entry into Tamil Nadu politics. "A vote for the AIADMK is essentially a vote for the BJP, and such an alliance would push Tamil Nadu back by a hundred years, reversing all the progress we have made," he cautioned voters, framing the upcoming elections as a critical choice for the state's future direction.
This comprehensive and forceful critique from Chief Minister Stalin highlights the deepening rift between the Tamil Nadu government and the central leadership, with the delimitation issue serving as a flashpoint for broader political and regional tensions.
