Amit Shah's Strong Statement on Infiltration in West Bengal
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that no one will be able to infiltrate West Bengal after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins the 2026 assembly elections in the state. Addressing a public rally in Balagarh, Shah asserted that the BJP government would ensure strict border security and prevent illegal immigration.
Shah's Attack on Trinamool Congress
Shah launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, accusing it of encouraging infiltration for political gains. He said that the TMC has allowed illegal immigrants to enter the state to increase its vote bank. "The TMC has betrayed the people of Bengal by allowing infiltrators to enter the state," Shah said.
BJP's Commitment to Border Security
The Home Minister reiterated the BJP's commitment to securing India's borders. He said that the central government has already strengthened the border fencing and surveillance along the India-Bangladesh border. "After the BJP forms the government in Bengal, we will implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and ensure that no illegal immigrant can stay in the state," Shah added.
Appeal to Voters
Shah appealed to the voters of Bengal to support the BJP in the upcoming elections. He said that only the BJP can ensure the development and security of the state. "The people of Bengal are fed up with the misrule of the TMC. They want change, and the BJP is the only alternative," he said.
The rally in Balagarh was part of the BJP's campaign for the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. The party is hoping to dislodge the TMC government led by Mamata Banerjee, which has been in power since 2011.
Reactions from Political Parties
The TMC dismissed Shah's allegations, calling them baseless. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the BJP is trying to polarize the voters on communal lines. "The people of Bengal will reject the BJP's divisive politics," Ghosh said.
Political analysts say that infiltration has been a major issue in West Bengal politics, with both the BJP and TMC accusing each other of encouraging illegal immigration. The issue is expected to play a key role in the 2026 assembly elections.
