MSEDCL Launches Aggressive March-End Drive to Recover All Pending Electricity Dues in Nagpur

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has initiated an aggressive 'March-end' action plan with the ambitious goal of recovering all outstanding electricity dues across Nagpur circle by March 31. The power utility has set a clear target of bringing arrears down to "zero" through this intensive recovery drive.

Comprehensive Recovery Strategy

Director of Human Resources Rajendra Pawar issued the directive during a special review meeting held on Friday, emphasizing that the drive encompasses all categories of consumers including domestic, commercial, and industrial users. Significantly, the initiative also focuses on recovering long-pending dues from government agencies that have accumulated over time.

The meeting conducted a detailed division-wise performance review across both urban and rural areas of Nagpur. Pawar stressed that while MSEDCL remains committed to providing reliable and quality electricity supply to consumers, timely revenue collection is absolutely crucial to sustain and improve these essential services.

Intensified Efforts Over Critical Period

Pawar instructed officials to intensify their recovery efforts over the next 10 days, describing this period as "extremely critical" for achieving the ambitious recovery targets. The directive comes as MSEDCL aims to significantly improve its revenue position before the close of the current financial year.

Senior officials present at the meeting included:

  • Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke
  • Superintending Engineers Amit Paranjpe and Sanjay Wakde
  • Executive engineers from various divisions across Nagpur circle

Ground-Level Review and Consumer Outreach

As part of the comprehensive drive, Pawar conducted a ground-level review at Butibori division, where he personally interacted with field staff and assessed recovery progress on the ground. He urged teams to maximize consumer outreach and ensure that all pending dues are cleared within the stipulated timeline.

During his visit, Pawar also inspected the 33/11kv Nag Bhavan substation, which recently received the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management. He appreciated the staff for their performance and commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

The director later visited the Civil Lines subdivision office to review billing and recovery efforts, emphasizing the importance of systematic follow-up and documentation in the recovery process.

Strategic Importance of Revenue Recovery

With intensified field-level monitoring and strict timelines, MSEDCL's aggressive approach reflects the growing importance of revenue collection for maintaining and upgrading power infrastructure. The utility faces the dual challenge of ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply while securing the financial resources necessary for system improvements and expansion.

The March-end drive represents a significant push to address accumulated arrears that have impacted the company's financial health. By targeting zero arrears, MSEDCL aims to create a more sustainable revenue model that can support future investments in the power distribution network across Nagpur circle.
