Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh Receives Threatening Letter at Hyderabad Residence

Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Monday disclosed that he received a threatening letter at his residence in Hyderabad, prompting him to seek immediate action from senior police officials and the state government. According to the MLA, the letter, allegedly sent by an individual identifying as Abdul Hafeez, contained abusive language and explicit threats.

History of Threats and Lack of Action

Raja Singh stated that similar letters and threatening phone calls had been received on previous occasions, but no concrete action has been taken so far. "Yesterday evening, a threatening letter arrived at my home address. Several such letters have come earlier too," he told news agency ANI. The MLA emphasized that he has written to the Director General of Police (DGP), the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, and even the Chief Minister, requesting them to identify those behind these threats, yet not a single person has been apprehended to date.

Details of the Latest Threat

In the most recent letter, the sender claimed that police had summoned him earlier, verified his Aadhaar card, and released him, asserting that law enforcement could not take action against him. Raja Singh further alleged that the letter included threats directed specifically at his son, escalating concerns for his family's safety.

MLA's Appeal for Investigation

Describing the situation as unfortunate, Raja Singh urged the Telangana Director General of Police, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, and the Chief Minister to trace the origin of the letters and identify those responsible. He suggested practical measures for the investigation, including:

  • Examining postal records to track the letter's delivery path
  • Reviewing nearby CCTV footage to establish the sender's identity
  • Conducting a thorough background check on the alleged sender, Abdul Hafeez

Defiance Against Intimidation

Despite the threats, Raja Singh asserted that neither he nor his family would be intimidated. "We will not be intimidated by threatening calls or letters. Our family will continue to work for religious causes," he declared, highlighting his resolve to continue his public and religious activities without fear.

Police Response and Ongoing Situation

As of now, police officials have not issued a formal statement regarding the matter, leaving the investigation pending. The incident raises questions about the security measures for public representatives in Hyderabad and the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing such threats. With the MLA's persistent appeals, pressure mounts on authorities to act swiftly and ensure the safety of elected officials and their families.
