A significant fire accident caused widespread alarm on Seed Access Road in Amaravati on Wednesday, as flames rapidly consumed large stacks of PVC pipelines designated for critical infrastructure development in the capital region. According to official reports, the PVC pipelines were stored at the location as part of ongoing development initiatives aimed at enhancing civic amenities in the capital city. In response, seven fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters engaged in a prolonged battle lasting several hours before successfully bringing the situation under control.
Director General of Fire Services Venkata Ramana confirmed that the fire was eventually contained and, fortunately, no casualties were reported. In the aftermath of the incident, the Andhra Pradesh government has ordered a comprehensive inquiry to determine the exact cause of the fire. State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has directed officials to investigate whether the blaze was purely accidental or if any foul play or negligence was involved. Representatives from L&T, the company involved in the project, suggested that preliminary findings point to the fire originating from a nearby electric pole. It is reported that dry grass surrounding the pole caught fire and subsequently spread to the stacked pipelines.
