Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Takes Action on Road Quality Issues
In a significant move to uphold civic standards, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has ordered the reconstruction of a crucial road leading to Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib. This decision comes after senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar raised serious objections regarding the substandard quality of the initial construction work carried out by the contractor.
Road Reconstruction Following Complaint and Inspection
The road, which connects from the Bearing market near Jagraon Bridge to the revered gurdwara, was originally reconstructed by the contractor just a few months ago at an approximate cost of Rs 80 lakh. However, concerns over its durability and workmanship quickly surfaced.
A formal complaint was lodged at the office of senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar, prompting an immediate and thorough inspection of the site. Upon verifying the poor quality, the MC directed the contractor to undertake a complete reconstruction of the road to meet the required standards.
On Wednesday, Prashar personally revisited the site to conduct a follow-up inspection, ensuring that the corrective measures were being implemented effectively and that the new construction adhered to high-quality benchmarks.
Commitment to Sustainable Development and Quality Assurance
Senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar emphasized the administration's unwavering commitment to the overall sustainable development of the state. "We are dedicated to ensuring that all civic projects contribute positively to long-term growth and public welfare," he stated.
Prashar made it clear that no laxity in work quality would be tolerated, with regular monitoring mechanisms in place to guarantee that projects on the ground meet stringent standards. He highlighted that this proactive approach is essential to prevent the wastage of taxpayers' hard-earned money.
Additional Road Project Under Scrutiny
In a related development, Prashar revealed that he has also received a complaint concerning poor quality work under a separate project to reconstruct the road outside Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib. The contractor involved has been instructed to reconstruct that road as well, with completion expected shortly.
This action underscores a broader crackdown on subpar infrastructure projects in the city. Prashar noted that projects worth crores of rupees are currently underway in Ludhiana, aimed at fostering comprehensive urban development. The civic body has vowed to take strict disciplinary measures against any instances of inferior workmanship to safeguard public funds and ensure accountability.
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation's firm stance on quality control reflects a growing emphasis on transparency and efficiency in public works, setting a precedent for other municipalities to follow in prioritizing citizen welfare and infrastructural integrity.
