KTR Accuses Congress Government of Diversionary Tactics in Formula-E Case
In a sharp rebuke to the ruling Congress administration, BRS working president KT Rama Rao has alleged that the revival of the Formula-E case is a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from critical governance issues. This accusation comes just a day after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a charge sheet in the high-profile case.
Political Vendetta and Misleading Claims
KTR expressed unwavering confidence that the case would not withstand judicial scrutiny, labeling it as "completely baseless" and lacking substantive evidence. He pointed out that even the government's own charge sheet acknowledges no financial wrongdoing occurred.
"The Rs 45 crore transferred from a Telangana bank remains securely in the designated account. Not a single rupee has been diverted," KTR clarified emphatically. He accused the Congress government of engaging in political vendetta by targeting him personally and harassing officials associated with the case.
The former IT minister criticized what he called exaggerated claims by the administration, stating: "They are projecting Rs 45 crore as Rs 600–Rs 700 crore to create confusion. The people of Telangana will not believe such fabricated claims."
Defending the Formula-E Initiative
KTR passionately defended the decision to bring the Formula-E race to Hyderabad, highlighting its significant economic and reputational benefits. According to Nielsen data cited by the BRS leader, the event generated approximately Rs 700 crore in economic activity within just one week.
"It was a prestigious event that positioned Hyderabad on the global map and attracted large-scale investments in the electric vehicle sector," he asserted. KTR questioned why no individual beneficiaries were named in the charge sheet and noted that the funds could be retrieved if necessary since they remain secure in the organization's account.
Allegations of TDR Scam
Turning to another contentious issue, KTR made serious allegations regarding Transferable Development Rights (TDR), calling it a "massive scam." He claimed to have warned about this issue a year and a half ago, specifically naming Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's family members and associates.
"I clearly stated that they were buying TDRs indiscriminately and setting the stage for a huge scam," KTR recalled. He pointed to recent real estate regulations introduced by the Congress government that mandate TDR purchases as validation of his earlier predictions.
The BRS leader vowed that once his party returns to power, they would conduct a comprehensive investigation into the TDR matter. "Since every detail—who sold, who is buying, and who is reselling to whom—can be tracked in this process, all those involved will surely face consequences," he warned.
Faith in Judiciary and Political Strategy
Throughout his statements, KTR maintained his faith in the judicial system, declaring: "We have complete faith in the judiciary. Justice will prevail in the end." He characterized the Formula-E case revival as a strategic move by the Congress government to distract from the BRS's legislative push for granting legal status to six guarantees through a private member's bill.
The political confrontation highlights ongoing tensions between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS in Telangana, with both parties preparing for potential electoral battles while addressing allegations of corruption and governance failures.
