Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Calls for Rigorous Household Campaigning Ahead of Assembly Elections

In a strategic move to secure an absolute majority in the upcoming Kerala assembly polls, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed CPM leaders to engage in intensive 'homework' through daily household visits. The directive was issued during a recent state secretariat meeting of the party, where it was acknowledged that the election is shaping up to be a tight contest.

Focus on Ground-Level Engagement for Electoral Success

Sources within the CPM revealed that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is projected to have around 55 sure seats, but victory hinges on focused efforts in the remaining constituencies. Vijayan stressed that household visits are one of the most critical campaign modes to ensure success, urging leaders from local committee levels to prioritize this approach.

At the meeting, it was noted that while many leaders presented optimistic outlooks for LDF candidates in their areas, they often lacked substantiated claims due to insufficient groundwork. The absence of proper household visits and legwork was evident, prompting the chief minister to call for immediate action.

Implementation of Daily Household Visits

Vijayan instructed that local leaders and party workers should visit each household in their jurisdictions, engaging voters personally to build rapport and address concerns. An LDF candidate from Ernakulam district shared that they have already initiated such visits, conducting them in the early mornings and evenings, covering approximately 1,000 households daily.

The candidate reported positive responses from voters and affirmed that these visits will continue until the final stages of the campaign. This hands-on strategy aims to strengthen voter connections and enhance the LDF's chances in the closely fought election.

As the Kerala assembly polls approach, the CPM's emphasis on grassroots campaigning underscores the party's commitment to securing a decisive victory through direct voter engagement.
