Kalvakuntla Kavitha Announces Launch of Telangana Praja Jagruthi Party on April 25
Hyderabad: In a significant development for Telangana politics, former MP and Telangana Jagruthi founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha has declared that she will officially launch her new political party, Telangana Praja Jagruthi, on April 25 in Hyderabad. This announcement follows her submission of an application to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for party registration several months ago, marking a pivotal step in her political journey.
A New Era for Telangana Politics
Disclosing the details during a public address in Nizamabad on Friday, Kavitha emphasized her vision for a transformative political movement. "As a Telangana adabidda (daughter of Telangana), I firmly believe that there is a need for a new and inclusive political force led by a woman to achieve ‘Sarvodaya Telangana'. With the blessings of the people of the state, I will be launching my party on April 25. This will mark the beginning of a new era in Telangana politics," she stated passionately.
Kavitha made it clear that her party is not aligned as a subsidiary to any existing political entity. "We are not a B-team to any other political party and will emerge as the number one party in Telangana in the future," she asserted, expressing confidence in garnering public support. She highlighted her ability to lobby effectively in Delhi and her commitment to winning the trust of the electorate through dedicated efforts.
Call to Youth and Addressing Societal Issues
A key focus of Kavitha's message was the involvement of youth in politics. "Representation of youth in politics has been a long-standing problem in India. I appeal to the youngsters of Telangana, please do not steer away from politics. Get involved and change politics instead. You have to be in a political party or within the system to do that. I invite all youngsters to join our party. Together, we will change the future of Telangana. We cannot depend on others to do this; we will have to do it ourselves," she urged, aiming to mobilize a new generation of leaders.
Kavitha also critiqued the performance of successive governments, pointing out widespread societal suffering. "Every section of society was suffering, and successive governments have failed to cater to the needs and aspirations of the people of Telangana. Women continue to suffer due to the lack of representation and targeted solutions to their problems. All these sections are being treated as mere vote banks," she lamented, underscoring the need for more responsive governance.
Legacy of Telangana Jagruthi and Future Plans
Reflecting on the two-decade legacy of Telangana Jagruthi, Kavitha highlighted its extensive service record. "It is one organisation that has fought for every section of society," she noted, mentioning dedicated wings for numerically smaller communities like Sikhs and Christians to address their specific concerns.
The organization's impactful initiatives include providing a pension of 2,500 rupees to families of nearly 300 farmers who died by suicide between 2014 and 2018, and assisting tens of thousands of families during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Irrespective of how small or big the issue, Jagruthi has always fought for the people, even during the BRS regime," Kavitha affirmed, positioning her new party as a continuation of this grassroots advocacy.
With the launch date set, Kavitha's Telangana Praja Jagruthi aims to reshape the political landscape, championing inclusivity, youth engagement, and women's leadership as core principles for a revitalized Telangana.
