Kalvakuntla Kavitha Announces Launch of New Political Party in Telangana
In a significant development for Telangana's political landscape, former MP and Telangana Jagruthi founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha has announced that she will officially launch her new political party on April 25 in Hyderabad. The announcement was made during a public address in Nizamabad on Friday, where Kavitha outlined her vision for a transformative political movement in the state.
Formal Registration and Political Vision
Kavitha revealed that she had already submitted an application to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for registering her political party several months ago, marking a formal step toward establishing this new entity. Speaking as a "Telangana adabidda (daughter of Telangana)", she emphasized the need for a new and inclusive political force led by a woman to achieve what she termed "Sarvodaya Telangana"—a state focused on the welfare of all.
"With the blessings of the people of the state, I will be launching my party on April 25. This will mark the beginning of a new era in Telangana politics," Kavitha declared, expressing confidence that this initiative would resonate with voters across the region.
Independence and Future Ambitions
Addressing potential speculation, Kavitha firmly stated that her party is not a B-team to any other political organization and would strive to emerge as the number one party in Telangana in the coming years. She highlighted her experience and connections, noting her ability to lobby in Delhi for the party's interests while working diligently to win public trust.
"I exude confidence that people would bless my party. We are here to build a genuine alternative that represents the aspirations of every section of society," she added, underscoring her commitment to grassroots engagement.
Call to Youth and Critique of Existing Systems
Kavitha made a passionate appeal to the youth of Telangana, addressing what she described as a long-standing problem of inadequate youth representation in Indian politics. She urged young people not to steer away from political involvement but to actively participate in shaping the future.
"Please do not steer away from politics. Get involved and change politics instead. You have to be in a political party or within the system to do that. I invite all youngsters to join our party. Together, we will change the future of Telangana," she said, emphasizing that change must come from within rather than relying on external forces.
She also critiqued successive governments for failing to meet the needs of Telangana's people, pointing out that women continue to suffer due to lack of representation and targeted solutions. Kavitha argued that various societal sections have been treated as mere vote banks, with parties dominated by men failing to deliver meaningful progress.
Legacy of Telangana Jagruthi and Social Commitment
Elaborating on the foundation of her new party, Kavitha highlighted the extensive service rendered by Telangana Jagruthi over the last two decades. She described it as an organization that has consistently fought for every segment of society, including numerically smaller communities often overlooked by other entities.
"We have had and will continue to have dedicated wings aimed at addressing specific concerns, ensuring no one is left behind," she noted, showcasing a commitment to inclusive governance.
Kavitha provided concrete examples of Jagruthi's impact, such as providing ₹2,500 as a pension to families of nearly 300 farmers who died by suicide between 2014 and 2018. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization assisted tens of thousands of families, demonstrating its responsiveness to crises. She emphasized that Jagruthi has always championed people's issues, even during the BRS regime, regardless of the scale of the problem.
Looking Ahead to April 25
As the launch date approaches, political observers are keenly watching how Kavitha's new party will position itself in Telangana's competitive political arena. With a focus on inclusivity, youth engagement, and women's leadership, this initiative aims to challenge established norms and offer a fresh alternative for voters disillusioned with traditional politics.
The event in Hyderabad is expected to draw significant attention, potentially setting the stage for a realignment in state politics as Kavitha seeks to translate her social work into electoral success.
