Karnataka Police Secure Top National Ranking in Law and Order

Home Minister G Parameshwar announced that Karnataka police have achieved the number one position across India for maintaining law and order and ensuring justice delivery. He made this declaration during a ceremony in Belagavi on Friday, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple police infrastructure projects.

Major Infrastructure Boost for Police Force

The event took place at the City Lane Police Quarters premises under the Belagavi City Police Commissionerate and District Police. Parameshwar emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing housing and infrastructure facilities for police personnel, recognizing their round-the-clock efforts to ensure public safety.

Key projects launched include:

  • Development initiatives worth Rs 67.8 crore across Gokak, Kittur, Kulagod, Sankeshwar, and Chikkodi.
  • Construction of residential quarters in Shahapur at a cost of Rs 3.9 crore, with each housing unit priced at approximately Rs 38 lakh.
  • Foundation stones laid for 144 new police quarters at City Lane, along with barracks, dining, and kitchen facilities.

Focus on Welfare and Efficient Policing

Parameshwar highlighted that the government has approved several schemes to address the needs of police personnel and has instructed officers to ensure effective law enforcement. He urged police staff to respond promptly to public grievances, noting that a stable law and order environment has attracted investment to Karnataka, generating employment and boosting state revenue.

"Communal disturbances have been under control over the past three years, contributing to this positive environment," the minister added.

Crackdown on Drugs and Cybercrime

The home minister issued a stern warning against drug trafficking and substance abuse, promising stringent action and uncompromising legal consequences for offenders. He mentioned that awareness programs are being conducted in colleges to prevent addiction among youth.

On the rising issue of cybercrime, Parameshwar acknowledged an increase in cases but assured that technology is being leveraged to detect and curb such offences effectively.

Additional Initiatives Announced

In his introductory address, City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase announced that an 'Akka Café' will be established by the zilla panchayat at City Lane for the convenience of police personnel and visitors, further enhancing welfare measures for the force.
