In a significant move aimed at transforming regional connectivity, Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal, held a crucial meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi. The primary agenda was to address pressing issues related to rail infrastructure and passenger amenities across the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency.
Key Railway Proposals for Kurukshetra and Kaithal
The discussion centered on public-interest railway matters impacting the districts of Kurukshetra, Kaithal, and Yamunanagar. MP Naveen Jindal highlighted the substantial increase in passenger load at Kurukshetra Junction, a phenomenon largely driven by religious events and a steady rise in pilgrimage tourism to the historic city.
To tackle the growing congestion, Jindal put forward two major infrastructural proposals. He strongly advocated for the construction of a dedicated Kurukshetra railway bypass and the establishment of a satellite station. These projects are envisioned to decongest the main junction and ensure smoother, more efficient train operations. The meeting also explored the potential utilisation of vacant railway land to improve urban traffic management in the area.
For Kaithal district, the MP raised the urgent need for upgrading passenger amenities and basic infrastructure at the local railway station. A critical point of concern was the long-closed level crossing in the Ramnagar area. Jindal emphasized that resolving this issue is paramount for easing daily traffic snarls and, more importantly, for ensuring the safety of residents.
Enhancing Safety in Yamunanagar
The development plans extended to Yamunanagar district as well. Specifically, for the Farakpur area, Naveen Jindal demanded the construction of a steel foot overbridge (FOB). This infrastructure is deemed essential for enhancing pedestrian safety, particularly for vulnerable groups like schoolchildren, senior citizens, and daily commuters who currently navigate risky crossings.
Positive Assurance from the Railway Ministry
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave a patient and positive hearing to all the demands presented by the Kurukshetra MP. He assured the parliamentarian that the issues would be examined in detail by the ministry, and necessary action would be taken based on feasibility and priority.
Following the meeting, MP Naveen Jindal reiterated that railways remain the backbone of India's connectivity and economic growth. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to continue coordinating with the central government to secure better rail connectivity, improved public safety, and the overall development of the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency.
