Hassan MP Levels Serious Allegations Against Former Minister HD Revanna
In a significant political development, Hassan Member of Parliament Shreyas Patel has launched a scathing attack against former minister and Holenarsipura MLA HD Revanna. Addressing the media on Monday, Patel accused Revanna of grossly misusing his political power and systematically harassing officials at both the district and taluk levels.
Allegations of Unwarranted Interference and 'Silly Politics'
Patel asserted that Revanna has been "unnecessarily interfering" in the day-to-day functioning of the district administration, which he described as a clear overreach. The MP characterized these actions as engaging in "silly politics" that detract from substantive governance issues. He emphasized that as a senior political figure with considerable experience, Revanna should ideally be mentoring and guiding younger colleagues and officials, not undermining their work.
Focus on 'Revenge Politics' Over Development
The Hassan MP further elaborated that instead of concentrating on the pressing development needs of the constituency and the broader district, Revanna appears to be preoccupied with "revenge politics." Patel alleged that Revanna has been specifically targeting administrative officials rather than utilizing legislative platforms like the assembly to advocate for public welfare and infrastructural improvements.
One of the most serious accusations involved Revanna allegedly abusing the District Commissioner (DC). Patel defended the DC, stating that the official has been performing his duties diligently and with dedication. This targeting of hardworking civil servants, according to Patel, creates a hostile work environment and hampers effective administration.
On the Prajwal Case and LPG Supply Issues
When questioned about the ongoing case involving former MP Prajwal, Patel clarified that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe is currently in progress. He stressed that this is a judicial process where no external interference is permissible. He advised that if any party believes there are irregularities, the appropriate course of action is to seek redress through the legal system by approaching the courts.
Shifting to a matter of public concern, Patel addressed the issue of LPG cylinder supply in the district. He sought to reassure citizens, stating that there is no need for panic. He revealed that the district currently has a stock of 7,731 domestic gas cylinders available. While acknowledging that there might be minor delays of up to two days in distribution, he assured the public that cylinders would be provided to all households in need, and the administration is working to streamline the supply chain.
The allegations made by MP Shreyas Patel highlight growing tensions within the region's political landscape, raising questions about administrative autonomy and the conduct of senior leaders. The situation underscores the ongoing conflict between political maneuvering and the imperative for development-focused governance.
