The president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), Rao Narendra Singh, launched a sharp attack on the state's Nayab Singh Saini-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on Saturday. He accused the administration of systematically recruiting candidates from outside Haryana for a majority of government posts, questioning the competence of the state's own youth in the process.
A Direct Assault on Haryana's Youth
Rao Narendra Singh framed the recruitment trend as a direct assault on the rights of Haryana's hardworking young population. He alleged it was part of a conspiracy to reduce them to second-class citizens within their own state. According to the Congress leader, this is not an accident but a result of a well-planned policy implemented by the BJP government.
He claimed that under this policy, large-scale recruitment of outsiders is occurring across key departments. The posts mentioned include patwari, clerk, assistant engineer, civil judge, Haryana Civil Service (HCS), medical college positions, and roles in the technical education department.
Concrete Allegations and a Recent Example
Singh presented a specific case to substantiate his claims. He pointed to the recent recruitment drive for assistant engineers in Haryana Power Utilities. Out of 214 posts filled, a staggering 185 were allegedly given to candidates from outside Haryana. He cited this as clear proof of the government's bias against local aspirants.
The HPCC president criticized the BJP's long tenure, stating that for 11 years, successive governments from Manohar Lal Khattar to Nayab Singh Saini have misled the youth with slogans. He claimed that instead of opportunities, the youth, especially from the general category, have faced unemployment, migration, and despair.
Threat to Identity and Employment
Rao Narendra Singh raised a unique concern, stating that Haryana might be the only state in India where recruitment exams do not mandatorily include questions on the state's culture, language, or socio-geographical conditions. He argued this shows the BJP government's disregard for Haryana's identity and its youth.
He issued a warning that this recruitment policy is a threat not just to the general category but also to the employment prospects of youth from reserved categories. By allegedly changing domicile rules, a conspiracy is underway to settle outsiders and turn native Haryanvi youth into a minority, he claimed.
Demands and Accusations
The Congress leader put forth a set of clear demands. He called for the immediate cancellation of the assistant engineer recruitment in Haryana Power Utilities. He insisted that all future recruitments must be conducted in accordance with Haryana's social and cultural fabric, with priority given to local youth.
Directly targeting Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Singh declared the CM guilty of betraying Haryana's youth. He demanded that the Chief Minister clarify his stand on what the Congress terms a recruitment scam.
Congress Foundation Day Plans
Separately, Rao Narendra Singh also addressed the upcoming foundation day of the Indian National Congress. He announced that the day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm at the HPCC office in Chandigarh. He appealed to all Congress workers and office-bearers to participate in the program to mark the occasion of the country's oldest national political party.
