Haryana Government Reassures Public on LPG Availability
In a decisive move to quell public concerns, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared on Wednesday that the state maintains sufficient LPG stock and has implemented robust arrangements to guarantee an uninterrupted supply chain. This announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by Saini in Chandigarh, where he thoroughly reviewed the situation in response to widespread rumors about potential LPG disruptions, fueled by the escalating war-like conditions in the Middle East.
Comprehensive Review Amidst Global Tensions
The meeting, attended by key officials including Additional Chief Secretary Raja Sekhar Vundru, Director General Anshaj Singh, and representatives from major oil companies, focused on assessing the state's preparedness. Officials highlighted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, had issued critical directives on March 9 to prioritize the supply of domestic LPG, ensuring its equitable distribution and availability across sectors.
During the discussions, oil company representatives confirmed that the current supply of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG is operating normally, with adequate reserves in place. They emphasized that gas supplies are being received continuously without interruption. However, a temporary disruption was noted in the supply of commercial cylinders. In response, priority has been assigned to educational institutions and hospitals, while oil companies are actively working to restore full supply to other commercial sectors as swiftly as possible.
Government Measures to Prevent Hoarding and Panic
To safeguard against hoarding and black marketing, the Haryana government has issued stringent instructions to all deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, and district food and supplies controllers statewide. These directives aim to monitor and regulate the distribution process, ensuring transparency and fairness. The state administration has made a fervent appeal to the public, urging them to disregard baseless rumors regarding LPG shortages and to refrain from unnecessary panic-buying or stockpiling.
Chief Minister Saini reiterated that the supply of essential petroleum products in Haryana remains smooth and fully adequate, with no immediate threat to availability.
