Goa Minister Calls for Patience Amid Commercial Gas Cylinder Supply Concerns
Panaji: PWD Minister Digambar Kamat addressed the public on Thursday, emphasizing that the government anticipates receiving clarity on the resumption of commercial gas cylinder supply by the upcoming weekend. He strongly urged customers to remain calm and refrain from panic or resorting to violence during this period of uncertainty.
Minister Kamat Highlights Supply Chain Issues and Central Government Role
"For commercial cylinders, there are some restrictions currently in place. Within the next two to three days, the Central government is expected to inform us about the specific policy regarding commercial cylinders," Kamat stated. He warned that if individuals continue to stop vehicles and threaten workers, dealers might be forced to halt supply altogether, necessitating police protection to ensure safe operations.
Assurance of Domestic LPG Availability and Criticism of Public Behavior
Kamat reassured residents that there is no shortage of domestic LPG in the state. "People are getting overly excited and engaging in inappropriate actions. For instance, in Cuncolim, a vehicle was stopped illegally," he noted. He pointed out that those who have not properly booked cylinders are often the ones obstructing vehicles to demand immediate supply, which he deemed unacceptable.
"This is not right. Individuals should follow the proper procedure by registering and booking their cylinders, after which delivery will be arranged. It is not permitted to simply stop a truck in the middle of the road and demand a cylinder," Kamat emphasized, calling for adherence to established protocols to maintain order and efficiency in the distribution process.
