CPI(ML) Leader Condemns BJP's Alleged 'Bulldozer Rule' Plans in Bihar
In a strong statement, Saroj Choubey, a central committee member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) or CPI(ML), declared on Sunday that her party will actively oppose any attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to introduce what she termed a 'bulldozer rule' in Bihar. Choubey made these remarks during the concluding session of a two-day district convention for CPI(ML) workers in Begusarai, drawing parallels to similar policies reportedly implemented in Uttar Pradesh.
Allegations of Land Bank Creation for Corporates
Choubey accused the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of planning to establish land banks specifically for corporate interests, a move she claims would come at the expense of marginalized communities, including the landless and poor. She emphasized that this strategy threatens to deprive these vulnerable groups of their shelters and livelihoods, exacerbating social inequalities in the region.
Commitment to Marginalized Sections
The CPI(ML) leader reiterated her party's unwavering dedication to advocating for the rights of various disadvantaged segments of society. "We will continue to raise critical issues affecting the poor, landless, dalits, small farmers, and other marginalized sections," Choubey stated. To bolster these efforts, she announced plans for a significant three-day state convention of workers scheduled to take place in Darbhanga from May 16 to 18.
Strategic Focus on Begusarai
Highlighting Begusarai's historical significance as a Left stronghold, Choubey noted that the district has become a priority area in the party's ongoing strengthening campaign. "Given its legacy as a Left bastion, Begusarai is crucial for our organizational growth and outreach," she explained, underscoring the region's importance in the broader political landscape of Bihar.
District Committee Formation and Protest Plans
During the convention, a 27-member committee was established for the district unit of the CPI(ML). Divakar Prasad, the district secretary, addressed attendees, criticizing the Union government's recently introduced trade codes as "anti-workers." He pledged full support for a nationwide protest called by various trade unions on April 1, vowing that the district unit would spare no effort to ensure its success in Begusarai.
Criticism of Government's Foreign Policy
In addition to domestic issues, party members at the convention expressed disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy stance. They specifically blamed him for not extending support to Iran, described as a long-trusted partner, amid the ongoing conflicts in West Asia. This criticism reflects broader concerns within the party regarding India's international relations and their impact on global stability.
