Congress Minister Expresses Confidence in Karnataka Bypoll Victories
Udupi District Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar on Thursday declared the Congress party's strong confidence in securing wins in the upcoming by-elections for the Davanagere South and Bagalkot constituencies. Speaking to reporters near the Yuva Meridian helipad at Koteshwar in Kundapur, Hebbalkar emphasized that voters traditionally tend to support the ruling party during such electoral contests.
Government Guarantee Schemes Driving Voter Support
Hebbalkar highlighted that the state government's flagship guarantee schemes have successfully reached every household across Karnataka, leading to tangible improvements in regional development and boosting people's incomes. She particularly noted that women voters have expressed significant satisfaction with these initiatives, which she believes will play a crucial role in the bypoll outcomes.
"We are absolutely confident of winning in both constituencies. In a democratic system, everyone has the right to seek a party ticket, but our only benchmark is achieving victory," Hebbalkar stated firmly.
Addressing Constituency and Project Concerns
Regarding the Davanagere South constituency, which became vacant following the passing of veteran leader Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, Hebbalkar explained that the Congress ticket was awarded to a member of his family. She affirmed that the party has fully accepted the decision made by the high command, demonstrating unity and respect for the late leader's legacy.
On the ongoing Varahi irrigation project, the minister addressed concerns by revealing that farmers have already submitted formal petitions. "The government's primary objective is to ensure that no one faces injustice. The District Commissioner has personally visited the site and conducted thorough inspections," she assured. Hebbalkar added that the administration is committed to taking all necessary steps to complete the project at the earliest possible timeline, while carefully considering and protecting farmers' interests throughout the process.
Infrastructure Issues Being Resolved
Responding to queries about operational challenges at the new KSRTC bus stand in Byndoor, where some government buses have reportedly not been entering, Hebbalkar announced that a high-level meeting will soon be convened. This gathering will include the District Commissioner and national highway authorities to discuss and implement prompt solutions to resolve the transportation issue efficiently.
Hebbalkar's statements underscore the Congress party's strategic focus on leveraging its governance achievements and addressing local concerns as key campaign pillars for the impending by-elections in Karnataka.
