Panic erupted at a bus stand near the block headquarters in Bihar's Supaul district on Wednesday evening after a parked bus caught fire, allegedly due to a short circuit. The incident quickly escalated into violence as angry locals vandalized a police vehicle and damaged property at the Chhatapur police station, accusing the fire brigade of responding too late to the emergency.

According to bus staffer Manoj Bhagat, the bus was parked at the stand and was scheduled to depart for Patna around 8 PM when the fire suddenly erupted. "A short circuit appears to have triggered the blaze. The fire spread rapidly and the entire bus was gutted," he explained. Fortunately, no passengers or staff were inside the vehicle at the time, which averted a potential major tragedy and prevented any injuries or fatalities.

In the aftermath of the fire, police personnel initially struggled to control the agitated crowd that had gathered at the scene. The situation grew tense as locals expressed their frustration over the perceived slow response from emergency services. Supaul District Magistrate Sawan Kumar and the Superintendent of Police later arrived at the spot and managed to bring the volatile situation under control through intervention and dialogue.
