NEW DELHI: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a broader advantage across the state, the Baruipur Pashchim constituency was retained by the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Biman Banerjee, the incumbent MLA, secured 1,04,781 votes, defeating BJP candidate Biswajit Paul by a margin of 17,862 votes. Paul polled 86,919 votes but finished second in the contest.

Baruipur Paschim is an assembly constituency located in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Biman Banerjee's Electoral History
At present, Biman Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Baruipur Paschim. He won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 57.27% of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Debopam Chattopadhyay, who received 27.97% of the votes. Banerjee has represented the constituency for multiple consecutive terms, having also won the seat in the 2016 and 2011 assembly elections as an AITC candidate.
