Bihar Commemorates 114th Foundation Day with Grand Cultural Extravaganza

Patna is gearing up for a vibrant celebration as Bihar prepares to observe its 114th foundation day from March 22 to 24. This significant event marks the state's historic separation from the Bengal Presidency in 1912, a milestone that reshaped the region's administrative and cultural landscape.

Three-Day Festival with "Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar" Theme

The festival, themed "Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar" (Developed Bihar, Bright Bihar), will unfold primarily at Gandhi Maidan, with additional activities scheduled at S K Memorial Hall and Rabindra Bhawan. This comprehensive celebration aims to showcase Bihar's rich heritage while looking toward a progressive future.

Star-Studded Musical and Cultural Lineup

The entertainment schedule promises to captivate audiences with performances by renowned artists including Sona Mohapatra, Shaan, and Papon. The musical offerings extend beyond contemporary acts to include classical Dhrupad and Gharana recitals, ensuring a diverse auditory experience for attendees.

Cultural programming features Bhikhari Thakur's folk theatre, various classical dance forms, a Hasya Kavi Sammelan (humorous poetry gathering), and an impressive laser light show. Beyond performances, the venue will host a food festival showcasing regional cuisine, a book fair promoting literary works, and development pavilions highlighting state initiatives.

Environmental Awareness and Conservation Focus

The environment, forest and climate change department has created a jungle-themed exhibition at the site to promote conservation efforts. This immersive display includes mountain replicas and educational models that emphasize the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, air pollution reduction strategies, and the importance of the plastic ban.

Street plays have been integrated into the program to educate the public on critical environmental issues including water conservation, the detrimental effects of plastic pollution, and the vital importance of tree preservation for ecological balance.

Chief Minister's Vision for Bihar's Future

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended warm greetings to the public ahead of the celebrations, stating, "Bihar has a glorious history, and with firm determination, the people are currently building a magnificent future for the state." He expressed confidence that through mutual unity, brotherhood, social harmony, and goodwill, residents will elevate Bihar's pride to unprecedented heights.

Comprehensive Security and Logistics Arrangements

To ensure smooth and safe celebrations, the Patna district administration has deployed 94 magistrates and established a 24-hour control room for continuous monitoring. Patna DM Thiyagarajan S M and SSP Kartikeya K Sharma confirmed that 128 CCTV cameras will provide comprehensive surveillance of the grounds.

Medical teams and fire tenders have been strategically positioned, with specific traffic routes designated for efficient movement. General public entry is permitted through all open gates except west gates 1, 2, 3, 4, and 13. Vehicles can enter through gates 5, 7, and 10, with ample parking available within the maidan premises.

Officials have been instructed to maintain constant vigilance and coordinate internal security measures until all crowds have safely dispersed following the events.

This foundation day celebration not only honors Bihar's historical journey but also reinforces the state's commitment to cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and communal harmony as it progresses toward a brighter future.
