BRS Leader Harish Rao Accuses Congress Government of Political Vendetta in Siddipet
Senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao has made serious allegations against the Congress government in Telangana, claiming that developmental works worth Rs 1,070 crore have been cancelled in the Siddipet assembly constituency. Addressing a press conference in Siddipet on Saturday, Rao described these actions as political vendetta and demanded immediate restoration of all halted projects.
Specific Projects Affected by Cancellations
Harish Rao provided a detailed list of projects that have been either cancelled or stalled under the current administration:
- Ranganayaka Sagar tourism project
- Komati Cheruvu Shilparamam
- Siddipet outer ring road
- Agriculture college
- Mittapalli SC gurukulam
- Siddipet sports stadium
- Siddipet–Illanthakunta and Siddipet–Kishtapur four-lane roads
- Auditorium and integrated market projects
In a particularly significant move, Rao highlighted that the veterinary college initially planned for Siddipet has been shifted to Kodangal, which happens to be Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's own assembly constituency.
Development Stagnation Under Congress Rule
The BRS leader emphasized that during the last two and a half years of Congress governance, not a single new development project has been sanctioned for Siddipet. Rao stated that all projects currently being inaugurated during the chief minister's visits were actually approved, funded, and completed during the previous BRS government's tenure.
"The effort is ours, but the credit is being claimed by Revanth Reddy," Harish Rao asserted during his press conference. He added that while the chief minister's name might appear on foundation stones, the people of Siddipet will always remember former chief minister KCR for these initiatives.
Specific Examples of BRS Initiatives
Rao provided concrete examples of BRS-led development that the current government is now taking credit for:
- Oil Palm Factory at Narmetta: This Rs 300 crore project was initiated under the BRS government. Land measuring 62 acres was acquired through TGIIC, farmers were encouraged to cultivate oil palm, and essential infrastructure including water supply was developed during the previous administration.
- Health Infrastructure Projects: Several health infrastructure projects being inaugurated now were actually developed during Harish Rao's tenure as health minister in the BRS government.
The BRS leader pointed out the irony that the Narmetta oil palm factory depends on water from the Kaleshwaram project, which Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had previously criticized. "It is unfortunate that the same project is now being relied upon," Rao remarked.
Formal Demands and Political Implications
In addition to his public statements, Harish Rao has written an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy demanding restoration of all cancelled works in Siddipet. The allegations come at a time of heightened political tension in Telangana, with the BRS positioning itself as the true champion of regional development against what it characterizes as politically motivated decisions by the Congress government.
The cancellation of projects worth over a thousand crore rupees represents a significant setback for infrastructure development in Siddipet and raises questions about the continuity of development initiatives across political transitions in Telangana.
